During this summer long program, each child will progressively create their own book. Each week a writing genre and prompt will be chosen, and the child will write a story then illustrate it by using a different art technique. Proper writing guidelines and techniques will be explained, and each participant will be encouraged to share some of their writing. The importance and significance of book covers will be taught as well as critiquing each other's work.

Dive into the hive with Al Tuttle during this fun family event!

Mr. Tuttle will bring a frame out of an active hive for observation, which will show what it looks like inside a hive, including bees.

(It is all enclosed so it is safe.)

There will be a short 10 minute video about beekeeping and other opportunities to learn more about the craft. Stop in and see what all the buzz is about!

Miami County Parks District

This year's storybook trail will be Sonny of the Bass Island Bar by local author Bill Schroeder. It is a book about Ohio's waterways and wildlife. The illustrator used water from the Little Miami River to create the watercolor pictures. Our program will include bringing pond water in a tub for families to explore and potentially create watercolor paintings with as an extension of the book.

Brukner's Nature Storytime Program

This is a 30 minute program where staff read a book, bring a live animal, and show several touch items to the kids. This program is developed for this age group. The book read will be Flowers are Calling by Rita Gray and the staff member will either bring the striped skunk or the southern flying squirrel.

Recycled Bracelet Craft *grades 3-12*

Juggling with Robbie Scott

Robbie Scott is the Pastor at the United Methodist Church in West Milton. He has juggled his entire adult life. He plans on talking, demonstrating, and teaching the skill of juggling. Each participant will get a homemade set of juggling balls and begin practicing the first steps.

Chris Rowlands is a singer/musician who writes songs about environmental issues and animals. He's a naturalist and works for museums, nature centers and the like, performing his music. Along with his presentations, he has beautiful hand painted backdrops and puppets that he uses. He incorporates his original song into the talks.
