Wednesday Dec. 8 at 6:30 pm. Join former Daytonian and author Josie Olsvig as she talks about her new book Gullah Tears, The Enslaved Souls of Charleston. This gripping historical fiction novel, set in antebellum Charleston, explains the history of race-based slavery, as well as the Gullah culture. In addition, the author will introduce her children’s picture book, Growing Up Gullah in the Lowcountry, a teaching tool designed to educate young students about race and culture. Lastly, the author will be bringing artwork and crafts made by Lowcountry Gullah artisans, all of which will be for sale along with the aforementioned books. Cash and Venmo will be accepted.
