Rex Maggert will be presenting his stories taken straight from two diaries kept during the Civil War that share the daily struggles each private faced during the war. The diaries touch on what it took to feed yourself when food was scarce, the daily marches of 15 miles with full packs, time spent in prison camps, and letters from cousins on opposite sides of the battle. The collection of stories are accompanied by pictures and photographs, including one taken at Miami County Fairgrounds when local Civil War vets gathered for a reunion around 1914. Join us in welcoming Mr. Maggert and learning more about our hometown heroes.
