Ron Brubaker of Mansfield, Ohio, father-in-law of a library staff member was so gracious to share his collection of old “TootsieToy” and car memorabilia.
Mr. Brubaker has always had an interest in cars. He acquired his first TootsieToy car (which is a metal sided panel car and also happens to be his favorite) sometime during the years of 1954-1955. As a child he would purchase these toys at the Dime Stories in his small hometown of Lucas, Ohio. Currently he finds these little treasures at flea markets across the state of Ohio. His collection totals over 100 cars and trucks.
When asked what intrigues him about these collector items he responded “I can’t have a large collection of real cars, so the toy cars allows me to do this.” Come and see the display at the Milton-Union Public Library from September 1st—October 14th.
